Linda S. Evans

Linda S. Evans

January 19, 2016

Linda Sue Evans, 70, of Pigeon Falls, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 19th, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Linda was born on September 5, 1945 in Eau Claire, WI, to Harvey & Margaret (Jankowsky) Bergerson. She was the oldest of three sisters. Most of her favorite childhood memories included playing with her sisters and neighborhood children, as well as summer trips with cousins to Hamm's Cottage.  Linda graduated from Memorial High School in Eau Claire in 1963. After graduating, she moved to Minneapolis and studied medical technology.

In 1968, Linda was set up on a blind date with John Evans. He swept her off her feet by taking her to a football movie and out for pizza at the Roman Inn, which would later become one of their favorite places to go together. He still remembers her brown corduroy pants and this being the first time he'd seen someone add ice to their coffee. They married on December 26th 1970 at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, WI and honeymooned in Appleton, WI.

John and Linda lived in the Twin Cities for about a year. Linda enjoyed working at the downtown Dayton's store and singing in the Westwood Lutheran Choir. In 1973, John and Linda built their home and settled in Pigeon Falls, WI. Their family grew when they were blessed with two daughters, Maria Elisabeth (born 1979) and Christy Angela (born 1981). Linda was happy to stay at home and care for the girls. She loved dressing the girls in matching outfits, dresses, velvet, fur and lace. As a family, they enjoyed bike riding and visiting parks throughout Wisconsin.

Linda loved art and any opportunity to color, paint, or use pastels. She loved to cook and bake, especially pies. She enjoyed being in nature, picking berries, and taking walks in the woods. Linda loved to stop and appreciate the beauty of flowers, the moon, sunrises and sunsets, rainbows, trees, and anything pointing to her Creator.  She enjoyed writing prayers and poems. She will be remembered for her gentle and kind spirit, her smile, the way she always held on a little longer for hugs, and most importantly to her, her steady faith and trust in the Lord. Linda will always be John's "Bride" and he will always be her "Honner." She will be dearly missed.

Linda is survived by her husband, John; daughters, Maria Evans and Christy (Ernie) Reppe; grandsons, Charlie, Manny, and Simeon Reppe; sisters, Betsy Larson and Nancy Bergerson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23rd at Cedarcreek Community Church in Eau Claire, with Pastor Rob Gerber officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to APPLE Pregnancy Care Center in Eau Claire, or to Eyes That See in Louisville, KY.
