April 14, 2020

Suzanne Marie Herman (Duch), 70, of Black River Falls, Wisconsin passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at her home under the care of hospice of Black River Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.  Suzanne was born on September 15, 1949 in Shell Lake, Wisconsin to Harold and Edith Duch. She was raised in West Sarona, WI and graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1967 as Valedictorian.

After High School Sue attended the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire in hopes of becoming a Registered Nurse, but God had other plans for her.  Suzanne married her husband of 49 years, Randy Herman on March 7, 1970.  She stayed home to raise her five children and later worked 13 years for the Black River Memorial Hospital in Nutrition Services as a Diet Clerk and Safety Officer.

What brought Sue the most joy was her large family.  She loved creating and continuing family traditions and celebrations and took great pride in her flower gardens and designing a beautiful yard for family gatherings.  She also had a knack for design and decorating.

Sue is survived by her siblings, Carl (Pauline) Duch, Jerry (Karen) Duch, John (Vonna) Duch, Aage Duch and Bev (Mike) Gallo; four daughters, Krista (Thane) Anderson of Stoughton WI, Kelly (Rick) Kondell of Merrillan, WI, Katie (Akbar) Meerza of Eau Claire, WI, and Shelly (Patrick Rebman) Kurtzhals of Eau Claire, WI; a son, Randy (Lisa) Herman of Galesville, WI; twelve grandchildren, Tyler Anderson, Drew Anderson, Olivia Anderson, Amara Baker, Austin Baker, Koda Kondell, Mikyle Meerza, Maysum Meerza, Aleah Kurtzhals, Elliana Kurtzhals, Bryson Herman and Alexander Herman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Herman; her parents and her sister-in-law, Jean Duch.

A private celebration of Sue’s life will be held at a later date.

  • Tracie Hart Prayers to your whole family. I work with one of Sue’s daughters. If her daughter is any indication of the type of person Sue was I know Sue had a huge heart, was kind and did so many things for others. Thank you Sue for raising such a beautiful daughter whose beauty isn’t just on the outside. May God give you all peace during this difficult time. Hold onto those special memories you’ll all be sharing as you gather together.
