Vilara Viana Bell, 90, of Alma Center formerly of Lockwood, MO, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at her home.

Vilara was born on June 23, 1929 in Mishawaka, IN to Jacob Clair and Vilara Viana (Fox) Galloway. Vilara moved to Lockwood, MO as a child and graduated from the Lockwood High School in 1947. Vilara married Lyndal Elton Bell on November 26, 1947. Lyndal preceded her in death in 1998.

Vilara is survived by four daughters, Patricia (Sonny) Weinstein of Golden City, MO, Janice Durman of Alma Center, Linda Bell of Golden City, MO, Lorie (Dan) Bell of Strafford, MO; 12 grandchildren, Darren (Trish) Durman, Danyal (Joel) Durman, Lesa (Jon) Arndt, Cathy (Rodney) Evans, Aimee Brunner, Michael Brunner, Angela (Charles) Shepard, Justin Stepp, Jason Harrison, Abbey Warren, Andrew Hood, Hannah Hodge; 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Catherine (Bud) Eastwood.

Vilara was preceded in death by her husband, Lyndal Bell; her parents, Jacob Clair & Vilara Galloway; sisters, Velma, Lenice and Cora; and brothers, Clair (Bud), Earl and Burton.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2019, at the Hixton United Methodist Church with Rev. Meg Erickson officiating. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. until the time of services that day at church. Luncheon will follow at the Hixton UMC following services.

Chippewa Valley Cremation Services in Altoona is serving the family.

  • Lori Brzezinski Send my thoughts & prayers to Vilara's family. She was a beautiful lady, warm, friendly and always smiling. Much dedication, devotion from her daughter, Janice. She was very giving till the end, like her mom. She wanted to give her as many happy memories. Bless her and those days they had together. My condolences to the family.
