Helen M. Hanford, 91, of Eau Claire, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Marshfield Medical Center in Eau Claire.

Helen was born August 1, 1928 to Lawrence and Margaret (Andersen) Hansen in Big Rapids, MI. She married Robert A. Hanford in Big Rapids, MI on May 14, 1949. Robert preceded Helen in death on May 23, 2004.

She is survived by her 5 children, Robert G. Hanford of Eau Claire, Stephen J. Hanford of Spooner, Thomas E. (Laurie) Hanford of Askov, MN, Christine M. Margenau of Eau Claire, Susanne M. (Mark) Hutchens of La Crosse, 6 Grandchildren, Kati (Chad), Jodi (Jason), Jacob (Kristin), Laci (Shawn), Cole, and Eric (Lydia), 4 Great Grandchildren, Gloria, Jenna, Caden, and Emma, 4 sisters, 1 brother, and several nieces and nephews.

Helen is further preceded in death by her Parents, and Daughter-in-Law Lynn.

Prior to her marriage, Helen completed beauty school and became a beautician. She and Robert purchased a resort in Northern Wisconsin which they owned and operated for seven years. After selling the resort, she went on to work for the Washburn County Nursing Agency and retired from there.

She loved ceramics, knitting, crocheting, playing on her tablet and spending time with family and friends.

Helen will be missed by her family and friends.

A memorial mass will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church. Father Frank Corradi will officiate. Inurnment will be held in Spooner Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the mass.

Chippewa Valley Cremation Services--Celebration of Life Center in Altoona is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was such a sweet person, one who set the example of what a mother should be to her children, of what a friend should be to her friends, and one who inspired others in good morales. Fortunately, she lived a long life to sew her good works onto others. Our deep sympathy to you.
