Vern “Putt” Hague, 86, of Rural Elk Mound, WI passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019 at his home.

Vern was born and raised in Maiden Rock, WI on April 3, 1933 to Clarence and Agnes Hague. He had two brothers, Darland (Violet) Hague and Claire “Skeet” (Joan) Hague. Vern spent 32 years at Armour Meat Packing in South St. Paul, MN and then drove a pre hauler for Waynes Pallets in Downsville, WI. He later cut and sold firewood until he was 75. Vern married Cheryl Hepokoski on August 16th, 1969 in Chisholm, MN. Together they have two sons, Chris (Robin) Hague, and Jarrod (Cheri) Hague and many grandchildren and great grandchildren who were all loved greatly.

Vern was a man of many activities. He especially enjoyed camping, fishing, snowmobiling, pony pulls and traveling. Vern was also an avid motorcyclist, taking many trips with his wife and other family and friends. He was especially known for his many stories that he would tell anyone with a listening ear and are sure to be repeated for years to come.

Vern is survived by his wife, Cheryl; sons, Chris (Robin) and Jarrod (Cheri), and many other family and friends. Vern is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Agnes; brother, Darland and sister-in-law, Violet.

A celebration of life and memorial service will be held on June 15, 2019 at the Gas-Lite in Ellsworth, WI from 12:00-4:00 P.M. Food will be served Pot-Luck style and anyone who wishes to contribute is welcome to bring a dish to pass.

The family would like to express their gratitude to St. Croix Hospice out of Eau Claire, WI for their coordination in care during Vern’s last days. Also, many thanks to the staff of Mayo Health System in both Eau Claire, WI and Rochester, MN for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers and monetary gifts, the family requests that donations be made to St. Croix Hospice in Eau Claire, WI and the Cancer Society.  

Chippewa Valley Cremation Services—Celebration of Life Center in Altoona is serving the family.
