Anita D. Clough

February 25, 2019

Anita D. Clough passed away at the age of 89 on Monday Feb. 25, 2019 at Dove Healthcare-South in Eau Claire, WI. She slipped away peacefully, surrounded by love.

Anita was born to Margaret (Parisius) and Vernon Flick on Feb. 7, 1930. She was the second child of a large family of 13 children in a small town: DeSoto, WI.

She later moved to Eau Claire, WI where she met and married Douglas E. Clough on January 6, 1951.

Unto this union they were blessed with four children.

Anita was a lifelong caregiver to family and others. She was a self-employed craftsperson and an author on that subject. She was a great gardener & loved her home-grown tomatoes most of all! She enjoyed flowers & creating flower arrangements. She loved to read & be the family dictionary.

She enjoyed travel & had the opportunity to visit Indonesia. She was known to answer yes to the question: do you want to go? Before she knew where. She enjoyed going to the casino.

Anita was the family matriarch, leading by example how to be kind. What brought her the most joy was having family around, sharing good food while surrounding her with laughter and fond memories.

She would say “it's so nice to have noise in the house again”.

Anita will be dearly missed by so many. Please try to remember her kind heart and joyful laughter.

She is survived by her three children, Guy Clough of Milwaukee, WI., Mark (Barb Golemgeski) Clough of Portage, WI and Lisa (Dale) Holte of Elk Mound, WI., son-in-law, Greg Day of Eau Claire, WI., four precious grandchildren, Jennifer Hansen of Winona, MN., Tammy Albrecht of Hixton, WI., Megan (Kevin) Bennatt of Eau Claire, WI., and Jason (Brittany Berger) of Colfax, WI., eight great-grandchildren with two more on the way. Also, her seven very supportive siblings. Twelve special nieces & nephews.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Cindy Day; three brothers; three sisters; two grandsons and one nephew.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 2-5 p.m.at 29 Pines-Sleep Inn & Suites conference center, 5872 33rd Ave in Eau Claire. A private ceremony and burial will be at a later date TBD (when all this snow is gone).

Florist Information

  • Mike and Shelly Schultz It's sad to hear about the passing of Aunt Anita. Such a beautiful person. Although her jokes and the sound of her laughter will be missed, my heart is full of happy memories of her. Growing up I thought she was so cool and artistic, and the most fun person to walk in the woods with. She inspired me to look for the humor and grace all around us.
Mike and I send our condolences.
    Love Shelly
