It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald James Wendt Sr. announces his passing on Monday, January 7, 2019, at the age of 78. Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Sigrid and his children, Gerald Jr. (Chuck), Scott, Troy, Krissi and Deidre. 

Jerry was born on March 8, 1940 in Athens, WI to Richard and Dorothy (Krueger) Wendt. At an early age Jerry became an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed participating in competitive coon hunting and loved his hounds.  His hobbies included raising small animals, riding and training horses and mules, and hunting and fishing.  Jerry enjoyed taking his grandchildren for rides in his covered wagon.  Jerry’s passion for hunting and fishing was something he enjoyed sharing with his children and grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Richard; his mother, Dorothy; sister, Florence; brother, Tom, and mother-in-law, Margaret.

He is survived by his wife, Sigrid; children, Chuck (Cathy), Scott, Troy (Missy), Krissi (Wade) Luedtke, and Deidre (Paul) Tennyson; brothers, Kenny (Ruth), Glen (Jeannie) and sisters, Elaine (James) Iattoni, Linda Schrieier, Gloria Wirkus and Sharon Lemmer, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jerry will also be fondly remembered by his 11 grandchildren, Kaytlyn, Danielle, Devon, Michael, Kaylee, Samantha, Jesse (Alaina), Alexandria, Meganne, Alyssa and Brooklynn and 5 great grandchildren, Haley, Roy, Easton, Ivy and William.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rutledge Home in Chippewa Falls for their excellent care and compassion for Jerry.

At Jerry’s request there will be no funeral services. His ashes will be spread at a later date, while surrounded by his family.

Chippewa Valley Cremation Services—Celebration of Life Center in Altoona is serving the family.


Private family services will be held at a later date.
