James "Jim" Gilbertson

James "Jim" Gilbertson

February 10, 2018

Jesus gently called a great man, James Allen Gilbertson ”Buff”,  beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and citizen to his heavenly home on February 10, 2018 with his family and caring staff at his side.

Jim was born on August 7, 1948 in Eau Claire to the late Allen and Clarice (Peterson) Gilbertson. Jim was a kind, thoughtful and wise man that was dedicated and hard working, retiring in 2012 from WRR. Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting but most of all he cherished the love of his family.

Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years Roxi, children Jayme Gilbertson (Todd Norrell) and Bryan Gilbertson. Grandchildren, Brianna Insteness, Madison Tucci and Kamryn Still. Also survived by his brother Steve (Leslie Patrow), sister in law Sherry Jenkins, brothers in law Fred (Laurie) Hoversholm, Erick (Grace) Hoversholm.  Many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and their families. His intelligence, sense of humor, optimism, whimsy, and love of God and Goldfish will be missed by all.

There will be no funeral services per Jim’s request.  A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Jim’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to each and every employee of Wissota Health and Regional Vent Center for the ongoing care, compassion and love they gave Jim and his family in his final months.

  • Erick Hoversholm Jim "Buff"

A very quiet but sincere man. Jim spent many hours in the woods and on the lakes of Wisconsin. I grew up learning to hunt and fish with Jim, he was a true sportsman. His love of family, God and life was inspirational. I was blessed to be a part of his life, my prayers and love go to his incredible wife Roxi who was by his side everyday! Jim is enjoying heaven now, he fought hard after his stroke but the Lord called him home. Thank You Lord for sharing Jim with us! Your Brother in Law and Brother in Christ, Erick and Family

  • Jean Beebe I am so shocked and sorry to learn of Jim's passing. We just talked last summer and he said he was doing great. He was like my little brother when we lived by Half Moon Lake. I used to take him to his cub scout meetings. When Steve was born, I had a new baby doll to take care of. Jim was so special, he will be missed tremendously.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
