Francis Joseph Gagnon passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018, surrounded by his family.

He was born on November 8, 1925, to Irene and George Gagnon. 

Francis graduated in 1943 from McDonnell High School in Chippewa Falls.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1948 – 1951. Francis married Jeanette Blaeser on September 18, 1951, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls.  They lived in Eau Claire from 1956 to 1982 and then his favorite place, Lake Holcombe, until his death.

Francis retired after 38 years of office management, most recently with Direct Oil.

Francis loved gardening, cutting firewood, feeding and watching the many birds on their lake property, playing Schmier, and his dog, Pepper.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; his children, Mark, Doug (Teresa), Rene’, and Beth (Pete) Garza; grand and great grandchildren; his siblings, Gladys, Merlyn (Jeanne), Pat (Lorin), and Kathleen; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law; several sisters and brothers-in-law; grandson.

Francis loved life and all of his family. He will be greatly missed by all.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2018, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cornell, WI.  Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Friday at the church.  Burial will be private at a later date in Calvary Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.

Chippewa Valley Cremation Services in Altoona is serving the family.

3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cornell, WI.

All flowers should be delivered to the church by 12 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7.

  • Lynn, Nita, Brayden, Lorin and Pat Libersky Our hearts and prayers are with the Gagnon family during this time of grief, sorrow and remembrance. He was a wonderful brother and uncle. His kindness and calmness will be remembered forever. Even though we cannot be there tomorrow, we will be there in spirit.
